In 2020, Aireen became the first postgraduate student in UrfU’s Institute of Humanities to be offered to undergo a Cotutelle Program, a simultaneous PhD enrolment program between UrFU and Macquarie University (Australia). She was awarded an International Macquarie Research Excellence Scholarship Program scholarship (iMQRES). She is under the joint-supervision of Prof. Elena Trubina (UrFU) and Dr. Donna Houston (MQ).
In May 2021, Aireen published her latest book chapter titled “Reimagining Children’s Spaces in the Urban Nightlife: Lessons and Challenges from the Literature” in the book Transforming Urban Nightlife and the Development of Smart Public Spaces edited by Hisham Abusaada, Abeer Elshater and Dennis Rodwell. Her chapter explores the socio-spatial relations, urban practices, and institutional arrangements that contribute to the inclusivity of urban nightlife to children.
