Mikhail Ilchenko is a senior researcher at the Institute of Philosophy and Law of the Ural Branch of the Academy of Sciences of the Russian Federation and a lecturer at Ural Federal University. His research interests include processes of post-socialist transformation, the sociology of architecture, and the social significance of contemporary urban spaces. Mikhail is a fellow of several research foundations and organizations, including a grant from the Leipzig Institute for Regional Development and Structural Planning, where in 2017 he worked on a project about post-Soviet changes in former "socialist cities" in Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus.
